The Sin Debt is Paid

TITLE: The sin debt is paid, Christ is risen and a full pardon offered. SCRIPTURE: Mark 8:31 "And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again." 1.) Why and How could Christ make a full payment for mankinds sin? A.) For Christ to make a full payment for sin he had to offer himself as a perfect substitute, a substitute, who was infinitely virtuous, a substitute who was without spot, and the only substitute who qualifies is Christ himself. Hebrews 4:15 "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." B.) For Christ to make a full payment there must be shedding of blood. Hebrews 9:22 "...without shedding of blood is no remission." C.) For Christ to make a full payment for sin there must be suffering. 1 Peter 3:18 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" D.) For Christ to make a full payment for sin, the holy and righteous demands of God must be satisfied, Christ gave an answer to justice that was irrefutable, and we find in the words "it is finished" a complete payment. . Romans 3:26 "To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus." E.) For Christ to make a full payment for sin he must come under the curse of the law. Galatians 3:13 "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:" F.) For Christ to make a full payment for sin he must die in the sinners place as a sacrifice that satisfied, and in substitution vindicating the honour of God's glorious attributes infinitely in death. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." 2.) How do we know that Christ's death made a full atonement for the sin? A. Because Christ rose from the dead, Christs resurrection did not pay the sin debt, but it fulfilled prophecy. and it was a sign that Christ was all that he said he was, that the Father was appeased by his suffering, and that his blood made an atonement for sin. Psalms 16:10 "For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption." Acts 1:3 "To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: CONCLUSION: Sin could only be atonned for through Christs vicarious death, it was Christ who said "I have power to lay my life down and power to take it again." Christ offers a full pardon to anyone who comes to him in repentance, and faith.
